This weekend, it was the Liverpool Half Marathon, so if you were out and about on Sunday, you’d have noticed a lot of very tired runners. You also would have noticed that the sun was out and that meant the people watchers were out in force!
Amongst the tired runners in a very busy Santa Maluco, was us. Tired, hungry and a little hungover. We were in to try the new set up of Bold Street Coffee serving their brunch menu which is available in the restaurant between 7.30am and 3.30pm. We’ve always been part of the BSC coffee cult, but embarrassingly, we’ve never tried any of their food, so this was a first!
We got things going with a couple of slices of pizza. What better way to line your stomach, right? We went for a slice of bolognaise pizza (no awards for guessing what’s on that…) and the BBQ club (Again, no awards). We’re big advocates for the pizza from Santa Maluco, so we don’t need to tell you how much we enjoyed these! It also made us a little less jealous of everyone else tucking into the rodizio!
From the brunch menu, we went for the scrambled eggs with bacon and avocado which was a bit of a monster. The eggs were fluffy, the bacon was smoked and crispy and the avocado was fresh. Honestly, it’s the simple things that make us happy! We also went for the bacon butty – a brioche bun with bacon, tomatoes and avocado. Again, simple but appetizing. To make sure we didn’t leave feeling peckish, we got a side of the creamy Portobello mushrooms which were amazing. We’d recommend a plate of these bad boys if nothing else tbh!
Santa Maluco X Bold Street Coffee makes for another exciting place to eat and drink on Castle Street. Make sure you check it out next time you’re in the city!
