London barbers, Murdock have partnered with CALM, The Campaign Against Living Miserably is a is leading a movement against male suicide; the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. They offer support to men in the UK, of any age, who are down or in crisis, and challenge a culture that prevents men seeking help when they need it.
Every day on average twelve men take their own life in the UK, and men are three times more likely than women to die by suicide. Men are half as likely as women to seek professional help whilst suffering from depression and 84% of men say they bottle up their emotions. Out of those men who do suffer from depression, 40% suffer in silence; owing to feelings of shame or embarrassment.
Partnering with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), Murdock barbers will be trained in Mental Health First Aid, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA); an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs of mental ill health, provide skills to support positive wellbeing and have an understanding of common mental health issues. Murdock London barber shops want to ensure clients both, look and feel good during their visit to the barbershop.
